The Mission

Through the Embers is committed to creating spaces where healing and meaningful change are possible. Care is trauma-informed and evidence-based, guided by compassion, humility, and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience.

This mission extends beyond individual therapy to supporting systems and environments that prioritize safety, consistency, and clinical integrity through collaboration, consultation, supervision, and program development.

Through the Embers recognizes that mental health cannot be separated from broader relational, developmental, and systemic conditions, and is committed to advancing equitable, inclusive, and anti-oppressive policies grounded in the ethical standards of the National Association of Social Workers.

The Provider

Meghan Boyd, LCSW-C, CCTP-II

I became a therapist because I know what it’s like to need support and not always find it. Those experiences shape how I show up - with authenticity, compassion, and a deep respect for the ways people learn to get through hard things.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II) with over 10 years of experience providing therapy for adults across outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), partial hospitalization (PHP), and inpatient levels of care. I’ve worked in high-acuity settings supporting people navigating trauma, dissociation, suicidal ideation, self-harm, anxiety, depression, substance use, disordered eating, and major life stressors. All that to say: I’m comfortable with complexity.

While I specialize in trauma therapy, including complex trauma and dissociation, many of my clients come in for anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, identity exploration, or life transitions. You don’t need a clear diagnosis or a perfect starting point to benefit from therapy with me. You don’t even need to know exactly where you want to go. A willingness to show up and reflect is enough.

My approach is collaborative, direct, and grounded in compassion. I integrate EMDR, IFS, CBT, DBT, and attachment-based psychodynamic approaches, along with somatic skills and creative interventions to help people reach their goals. I don’t believe people are something to be “fixed,” no matter how broken, “wrong,” off-track they may feel. Things like anxiety, depression, dissociation, self-harm, suicidal ideation, or avoidance are often protective responses shaped by past experiences. Therapy with me tends to move back and forth between leaning into these harder parts, then returning to safety and familiarity. Over time, this creates space to understand your patterns, build internal safety, and make sustainable change. Clients often describe me as real and honest. I’m someone who will laugh with your dark humor and create space to acknowledge the pain underneath. I won’t push you before you’re ready, and I won’t let you stay stuck if you want change.

Outside of therapy, I stay grounded in small, comforting things - my pets, a good book, board games, video games, and creative expression. I firmly believe that creativity in whatever forms we find pleasurable nurture the soul of healing and some of the best self-care available. That same value carries into my work. You might even catch me crocheting or coloring during sessions as it helps me stay focused and regulated (Thanks, ADHD!), and I often encourage clients to do the same if it feels supportive. For many people, it makes talking and sitting with silence feel a little easier. My attention is always on you, and I’ll adjust if it ever doesn’t feel right.

If you’re looking for a trauma therapist, EMDR therapist, or therapy for anxiety, depression, or life transitions, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
